Nick La, the designer of the Glossy Blue WordPress theme that I’m currently using, has put together an article that he calls WordPress Theme Hacks. Give it a read if you are seeking out the tips and tricks used in creating a WordPress theme like this one.
You don’t have to transfer your domain name from a registrar — godaddy.com, namesecure.com, registrar.com, netsol.com, etc. — to the Internet Service Provider (ISP) who hosts your website. All you have to do is go into your account and change the DNS name server settings. ((Erin Blaskie informed me of the following: “As a side note, you will have to transfer it to the hosting company if you want to use WordPress. Otherwise, it doesn’t ‘attach’ itself properly and you won’t have access to the blog dashboard.”))
- Find out the DNS name servers for your ISP (support page, phone call, etc.)
- Log into your domain registration account and change to DNS name server settings for that domain:
For example:
From:
ns1.registrar.com
ns2.registrar.com
To:
ns1.bluehost.com
ns2.bluehost.com
There’s also a way to use a proxy to be able to point your website to another hosting service in case of trouble, but I haven’t tried that yet.
