WordPress 2.5 Plugin Upgrade Problem and Solution
WordPress 2.5 is out and it has some great new features: A WYSIWYG editor that (supposedly) won’t bungle your HTML code, an image gallery that is just pretty darn cool, and a super-slick automatic upgrade option for plugins.
There’s just one problem…
If you are using the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin, as I am using to upgrade WordPress, or another plugin that uses the pclziputilpathreduction() function, the automatic plugin upgrade link won’t be working for you. Instead, you’ll see an error that the pclziputilpathreduction() function cannot be redefined.
Solution…
It looks like this will be fixed in a future version. In the meantime, a workaround to the problem is to deactivate the Automatic Update plugin, click on automatic upgrade links for all your plugins, then reactive the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin.

Hey David,
you can use Instant Upgrade instead. It is working without any problems and the author is very responsive if you have some problems. I wrote about it on my blog:

I hope that helps

Hi David!
That’s good news to hear that the wysiwyg is supposedly more user-friendly with html, I hate having to turn it off and most times keep it off. Haven’t had time to check out the new version yet so thanks for the info
